About Godzilla 1984
Godzilla is a Japanese sci-fi kaiju film created by Toho, directed by Koji Hashimoto and featuring special effects by Teruyoshi Nakano.
Starring Ken Tanaka, Yasuko Sawaguchi, and Yosuke Natsuki, the film was released simply as "Godzilla" in Japan, but Toho used the English title "The Return of Godzilla" for international markets.
This sixteenth installment in the Godzilla series marked a reboot and ignored all previous films from 1955's "Godzilla Raids Again" to 1975's "Terror of Mechagodzilla".
As a direct sequel to the original 1954 film, "Godzilla" was produced for the franchise's 30th anniversary and brought back the darker themes and destructive nature of the iconic monster.
